"Paper" Currency Is Not Paper

"Paper" currency is actually a special blend of 75% cotton and 25% linen and has tiny red and blue fibers of various lengths distributed throughout.  It’s that special blend, and a high pressure printing process called intaglio, that creates the embossed area on, and unique feel of, U.S. "paper" currency.
